McBarge (Friendship 500)

Canada / British Columbia / Vancouver /
landmark, place with historical importance, McDonald's, exhibition centre

Formerly a McDonalds that sat on the main Expo86 site on the north shore of False Creek. It was near the west end of the site, close to the Ramses and Malaysia Pavilions in the Yellow Zone. Now it sits deserted, hidden from everyday sight. In its heyday, you could pull up in a boat, and have your fill of greasy food.

Currently, the barge is the centrepiece of a proposed waterfront development on the Fraser River in Mission, British Columbia, called "Sturgeon's on the Fraser", which includes plans for a restaurant and marina.

  • awesome. Can you get on that thing?
  • McBarge was actually located on the main Expo86 site on the north shore of False Creek. It was near the west end of the site, close to the Ramses and Malaysia Pavillions in the Yellow Zone. It was not located between Canada Place and Stanley Park during the fair.
  • Yes you can.... with difficulty
