Titus Tunnel

A Roman tunnel some 1350-1400 m long, begun in the reign of Vespasian (69-79) and completed in that of his son Titus (79-81). The purpose of the complex was apparently to ensure the more efficient drainage of the area and to keep the harbor from silting up.
