War memorial. 1925. C. S. Jagger. Portland stone. Rectangular plinth of
stepped massing carved with frieze comprising scenes of war and surmounted by a
model in stone of a big gun. Standing bronze figures of soldiers in contemporary
dress to three sides of base, the fourth having recumbent draped figure of dead
soldier. A monument of considerable originality and force.
