The Allianz Arena is a football stadium in the north of Munich, Bavaria, Germany. The professional football clubs FC Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 München have played their home games in the stadium since its opening in 2005. It has a league capacity of 71,000, and, for international matches, an all-seater capacity of 68,000 (an increase from the original capacity of 66,000), with 106 luxury boxes. The stadium, designed by Herzog & de Meuron and Arup, was constructed from October 2002 to May 2005 at a cost of €340,000,000. The Allianz group bought the naming rights to the stadium for a period of 30 years.
The stadium's exterior facade is made up of 2,874 ETFE foil air panels, each of which can be independently lit with red, blue, or white light (red for Bayern Munich, blue for 1860 München, and white for the German national football team).
The stadium hosted five matches, including a semifinal, of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and the 2012 UEFA Champions League Final. During UEFA-organised football matches, the stadium is named "Fußball Arena München".
