Most probably built in the first half of the second century, so well before Queen Zenobia, only the scaenae frons (the stage front) seems to be of late 2nd, early 3rd century. The theatre cannot be compared to those of Bosra, Appamaeia or kyrrhos in term of size. But nevertheless gives an impression of teh cultural life of Palmyra at that time.
