Stanford Stadium is the football stadium for Stanford University. It is the home of the Stanford Cardinal football team. From 1921 until 2005, it was an oval football and track stadium. After the original stadium was torn down in November 2005 and a new rectangular football-only stadium was constructed in its place, the stadium had a festive reopening on September 16, 2006. The stadium, having cost $90,000,000 to construct, has a capacity of 50,000 in two tiers. It has a floor area of 601,128 sq ft (55,846 sq m). On the west side of the stadium is a four-story skybox with 7 luxury boxes, a pressbox, and 437 spectator seats.
