Comments

  • The bridge was actually on the main entrance road, which eventually followed the eastern edge of the Maple Allee that ran along the east edge of the formal garden, then north to loop around to the main entrance on the north side of the mansion. Going south on this road, one would have reached a fork, the left side of which would lead to a greenhouse area on Cheltenham Avenue, while the right (main path) led to the circle where the Juvisy fountain is located.
  • This wall was constructed of sections of the sides of the bridge that carried the main driveway over the service drive, just to the east and north of Whitemarsh Hall itself. The pieces were moved here after the house was demolished, in 1980.
