Observatorium Robert Morris

Netherlands / Flevoland / Lelystad / N307 (Swifterringweg)
observatory, art -(to be removed, see EN descr.), sculpture, interesting place

In 1971 the artist Robert Morris designed the 'Observatorium' for a temporary exhibition, after which it has been rebuild in Flevoland and nowadays it has been referred to as 'Observatorium Robert Morris'. The 'Observatorium' is an example of land art and looks like a modern Stonehenge. The project consists of two concentric circles, in the centre of which you can experience the rhytm of day and night and change of seasons. At about march 21 and september 21 the first sunbeams fall exactly in the middle point of the circle.
