The Telecommunication Museum is located in the front section of the TMII area next to the Sports Museum and the Bayt Al-Quran, close to the main gate. The specific feature of this museum is the roof in the form of a dome in blue and in front is the "Maha Patih Gajah Mada" Palapa Oath Monument, standing erect and pointing a "keris" upward. This scene reminds of the first Indonesian communication satellite given the name of "Palapa", conforming to the spirit of the "Palapa Oath" to unite the Indonesian Archipelago. The museum building covers a main building as an exhibition hall, a management room and a room to receive guests in the front section.
The Telecommunication Museum displays various collections and information about telecommunication development in Indonesia of the pre-war era - the beginning of the independence, the New Order and the future of the world telecommunication, including telecommunication equipments from era to era. Pre-electric telecommunication equipments are among others blow communication tools, "kentongan/genderang, bedug, gong and lonceng". Electric era telecommunication tools are among others the morse telegraph, the local manual telephone centre using battery and a diorama of the YBJ-6 struggle radio transmitter.
The present telecommunication tools are divided into analog and digital equipments. Analog communication equipments cover tele-printer/telex machines, analog automatic telephone centers, a national telecommunication network model, an "SKGM" model and a "hambur tropos". Digital telecommunication equipments cover a conventional "STKB" configuration planet and a cellular "STKB", product samples of PT INTI, an "STDI-K" panel, a small earth station panel, a satellite blast off shooting, a "GSO" (Geo Statistic Orbit) mock-up, an SKI configuration panel, an "Intelsat/Inmarsat" panel, and a "Pasopati" ("Paduan Solusi Pelayanan Teknologi Informasi") or ISDN (Integrated System Digital Network).
The extremely rapid communication technology development has cut short distances. The presence of the videophone and internet has affirmed the function of communication equipment not only limited as a communication tool but also as a multimedia. The museum also presents a diorama and multimedia utilization model, covering Solution for Enterprise Network, Electronic Mega Mall (EMM) and Iridium Satellite System.
The public can utilize the museum as a means of learning completed with a theatre with a collection of documentary films on telecommunication technology development and an animation film "Si Ponix"; and "elshop" room, an Info room and demo of telecommunication goods/services products, a meeting room, a telecommunication stall and an internet stall.
