Lafarge's Duquesne Plant recycles slag--a steelmaking waste product--for use as an aggregate material in construction applications. The plant once belonged to Duquesne Slag Products Company, which was acquired by Lafarge in the 1980s. The site has been used by Carnegie-Mellon University to test lunar rover technology.
