Don Hotel (Voronezh)

This hotel is named after the Don River (known as the Tanais in ancient times), which runs North to South just to the West of the city.

In Communist times, it primarily catered to Communist Party functionaries, and there is a suite that is famous for having been used by Boris Yeltsin. This suite is very large, with a particularly spacious entry and bathroom. There is also a veranda that looks onto the courtyard.

Even after the fall of Communism, reserving a room required a special letter submitted on behalf of the guest by the General Director of a prominent local business.
