This was the site of the Hollywood Sportatorium, sometimes locally known as the "Sporthole". It was known for its no-so-stellar acoustics, remote locations, and so-so maintenance. The good times lasted until 1988, and it lay abandoned until its demolition in 1993, to make way for residential development.

  • Saw Lynyrd Skynrd there in the Fall of 1977, two or three weeks before the fatal plane crash.
  • Wasn't it a little east of here?????
  • saw Grateful dead in 1977, Deep Purple (couldn't hear for 2 days after) the place was LOUD!!!! Also U2 on their War tour there. Looked like an airplane hangar.
  • Saw Bob Dylan and the Band there and countless other shows...I was at that Deep Purple concert, and the best was J. Geils Band. The best part of all was the cars in line for hours waiting to get into the parking lot...that is where the real partying was done!
  • Saw Motley crue in 84' and countless shows after that, also dubbed the snortimpourium, ahhh the 80's.
  • This arena was notorious for being shoddy and deplorable.
