T/S State of Maine

Originally laid down as a Maury Class Hydrographic Survey Ship USNS Tanner (T-AGS-40), this vessel decomissioned from Naval Service in 1993 when she was transferred to the Maritime Administration and laid up in James River with the Reserve Fleet.

While she was in reserve, she was sold in 1995 to the Maine Maritime Academy and renamed T/S State of Maine. She is pictured here awaiting her turn at Bender Marine for routine repairs.
