Avalanche Peak10566 ft (3221 m)
Yellowstone National Park The trail for this climb starts 2 miles East of Sylvan Lake on the East Entrance Road. Its a steep 2100 ft vertical climb - but the rewards are awesome. Avalanche is clearly visible from the Lake Hotel as a long knife shaped ridge which is usually snow covered till later in the season. The long ridgeline provides for fantastic views and its one of my personal favorites because it is not too ridiculously difficult for beginning climbers. I've hiked this trail many times - and would definitely run up it again given the chance. Category: yellowstone summit mountain park national trails panoramic view scenic
