This settlement was born around a couple of Danish families that settled in the area in the first half of the 20th century. It is considered part of the city of San Carlos de Bariloche but it is actually outside of the limits of the Bariloche Department (or county). The area belongs to the Pilcaniyeu Department and there have been talks lately about the possibility creating the municipality of Dina Huapi.
