This is the site for the Martineau Galleries. Demolition of the site is due to begin by the end of 2006. There will be two towers with sloped roofs including one being 110 metres tall. The development is much anticipated as it will essentially be a brand new retail area and the largest development in Birmingham since the Bullring in 2003. This will be the second phase of the Martineau scheme and the final phase in the redevelopment of Birmingham by the much admired Birmingham Alliance responsible for the Bullring and Martineau Galleries which have transformed Birmingham from the drab 1960s appearance. The view from Carrs Lane is set to be transformed and enhanced by the towers with sloped roofs which will bolster the appearance of the skyline from a large distance and will improve the prominence of the Eastside development.
