statue, interesting place
A gift from then-University President Stephen Joel Trachtenberg to the class of 2000, the Hippopotamus (or "River Horse" as the plaque refers to it) is an odd landmark on campus. Speculation to its reason for being include everything from a desire to create a sense of whimsy and tradition on an otherwise urban campus, to money laundering, to an alcohol-fueled spending spree.
