A township grown as a part of greater Lunglei. Headquarters of Baptist Church of Mizoram
Serkawn occupies a very important place in the history of Mizoram. The first Baptist British missionaries established the headquarters of the Baptist Church of Mizoram in the early part of the 20th century at Serkawn. Today it still continues to be the headquarters of the Baptist Church of Mizoram. The British missionaries also played a crucial role in setting up a prominent school and hospital which have both served the community of Lunglei and its surrounding areas for decades now. The British named Serkawn "Lemonvale" and aptly so because of the thriving lemon groves found during those times.
