This temple is more than 600 yrs old, built by a Pandya king who got his eye sight by worshiping this shiva lingam. This temple is one of the five temples in theni district that the pandya king worshiped and got eye sight. they are 1. Then kalahastiswarar temple in Uthamapalayam. 2. Siva temple temple next to Chinnamanur on Chinnamanur, Cumbam highroad.3. Poolanandeeswarar temple in Chinnamanur. 4. Siva temple in Markayankottai (This siva temple is always closed it has beautiful sculptures of Lord shiva, bhairava and other gods and godess. I dont know the actual problem in opening this temple. But any way this temple should be opened and worshiped by doing poojas). 5. Kannieswaramudayar temple in Veerapandi. |
