Built in 1914 to carry Fairport's Main Street across the Erie Canal, the Fairport Lift bridge is a unique structure that crosses the Erie Canal at a 32-degree angle and connects two landmasses of uneven height. Offering 7ft of vertical clearance in the closed position, when raised vertically the bridge provides 16.3ft of clearance for its entire span.
