Disney's famous castle was based on a gorgeous 19th century German castle Neuschwanstein, and movie "Sleeping Beauty" Released in 1959.

  • Refurbished and reopened after an eight-year hiatus in early 2009. Thank goddess the company maintains some sense of history.
  • I just saw the castle walkthrough on the "Sleepy Beauty" bonus DVD; very cool how they recreated from the earlier design.
  • Great to know! I think that video is also on the Disneyland website - I remember watching it somewhere.
