Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH subsidiary. Home to the Audi AG-owned August Horch Museum.

In 1904 August Horch, and industry moguls from Zwickau and Plauen, founded HORCH. In 1906 jurist Dr. Rudolf Stoess wins driving HORCH at the Herkomer Competition. In 1920, Dr. Moritz Strauss, a industry mogul and cosmopolitan, becomes main stockholder. In the 20's HORCH becomes a world-renowned brand under his guidance.
First German 8 cylinder engine in production. In 1932 HORCH joins the Auto Union in Saxony. Auto Union Silver Arrows by HORCH are victorious internationally. Designers: Prof. Dr. F. Porsche (Type A...C, 16 cylinder, 1934) and Prof. Dr. Eberan v.Eberhorst (Type D, 12 cylinder, 1939 ). In 1936 it produced its 25 000th 8 cylinder HORCH luxory car. The luxury brand owned 55% of the german premium auto market. In 1958 it was reorganized into Sachsenring. In 1968 design and planning for compact class series finished - 5 years before VW production ramp up (called Golf class). Privatized in 1991 after reunion, demolition of historical buildings.
