A private boarding school for girls. Entry to Queen Anne’s is at 11, 12 and 13 years and sixth form. The history of the School dates back to 1698, when the Grey Coat Hospital was founded for the children of Westminster by eight citizens of that borough. Their intention was that it should prove "a nursery for loyal citizens, honest workers and solid Christians". It was granted a Charter by Queen Anne in 1706 under the name of The Royal Foundation of Queen Anne. When, in 1894, the Governors decided to use part of the endowment to found a boarding school for girls at Caversham, it was named after her.
