The names of some of the streets in the neighborhood and in the adjacent Dominion Station Condomiums commemorate people associated with the Washington and Old Dominion (W&OD) Railroad and its predecessors (for example, Baggett Terrace, Elkins Terrace, Manning Square, Hutchens Square). Other street names reflect the names of a nearby W&OD Railroad station (Guilford Station Terrace), railroad equipment, personnel, and equipment manufacturers (for example, Whitcomb Square, Iron Horse Terrace, Locomotive Terrace, Caboose Terrace, Box Car Square, Conductor Terrace, Whistling Terrace, Trestle Terrace, Golden Spike Terrace), and of other railroads and their stations (Reading Terrace, Grand Central Terrace, Waterloo Station Square).
The W&OD Railroad's Guilford Station (later Sterling Station) was a short distance north of the nearby intersection of the W&OD Trail and Ruritan Circle, on the west side of the trail.
Note: The marked polygonal region does not accurately indicate the property lines of association property in all places.
