Kamadhenu Theatre stands proudly as a fading Art Deco landmark on Luz Church Road. It was built before Independence on the site of Lakshmi Vilas, one of Mylapore's famed old garden mansions which had a long history of illustrious occupants that included Justice Bhashyam Ayyangar, Justice V. V. Srinivasa Ayyangar, Mr C. R. Pattabhirama Aiyer and his son Sir C P Ramaswamy Aiyer and Raja D. V. Appa Rao, Zamindar of Jaggampeta.
Kamadhenu Theatre was one of the popular cinema theatres in Mylapore till the 70s. It usually exhibited only Tamil films. It is not popular any more but is still a land mark.
