This is the (famous) K & B Drugstore (HQ) Building. Built during the K&B heyday, it featured wonderful art in the form of giant mobiles that spun effortlessly around the building and statues of women sitting alone on benches. When the Crescent City Connection was expanded, there was talk of tearing down the building under the Eminent Domain Statute, but the owners (then Katz & Besthoff) worked out a deal, to allow them to remain, even though the building was incredibly close to the interstate, by using specially-designed 'light deflectors', which were supposed to keep the light from the closely residing building from blinding drivers.

  • A lot of the statues have since been moved to outside NOMA in City Park. Don't know what became of those realistic statues of women.
