This is a public school built with funds donated from the estate of John McDonough, a wealthy businessman who died around the 20's. He had a total of about 38 schools named after him, but many have undergone name changes since some believe that he was a slave-owner. Currently operated as KIPP: McDonogh15 School for the Creative Arts.
