Gladding, McBean and Co. was formed in 1875 by Charles Gladding, Peter McGill McBean and George Chambers. The clay factory opened in 1884, which is still operational. It was acquired by Pacific Coast Building Products, Inc. in 1976.

GMB produces clay pipe, roof tiles, floor tiles, and really beautiful exteriors for buildings. Some of their significant work includes Stanford University's distinctive Spanish roof tiles, Franciscan and Catalina pottery, and custom terra cotta work gracing many of California's historic buildings.
