Built in 1836 by William Tierney Clark and originally of cast iron construction with stonework abutments, completely rebuilt in stone 100 years later with matching lodges to each side of the east end and stairwells down to the river bank at approximately mid span ( only half of the bridge spans the river Avon the rest is an embankment).
There are two decorative lamps mounted on the original parapet walls at about the centre line of the river
