It is located on the Vacha River in Southern Bulgaria, 10 km south of the town of Krichim. The reservoir fills the bed of the Vacha River, being the smallest in terms of area and volume of the entire cascade, but with the largest inflow of water. It was built in 1972 to generate electricity.
