Gates and Grilles of Alexandrovsky Garden (Moscow)

Russia / Moscow / Moscow / Aleksandrovsky sad
 gate, fence, interesting place

On the pillars of the gates are the fasces of ancient Rome (bundles of rods bound with ribbons and an ax in the middle). Signifying strength and unity, these designs and the huge panels containing crossed arrows in octahedrons with antique masks, as well as the nearby pike heads, were meant as a reminder of the recent victory over Napoleon.
