Site of Lauderdale County's only 'stereotypical' ante-bellum home. It was built aprox 1824 and burned with the exception of its brick columns which were covered with a plaster made on site according to legend of mud, molasses, straw and horse hair. The builder James Jackson is known as the 'Father of American Horse Racing was famous in his period for having imported more thoroughbred horses than anyone else. It is also said that Alex Hailey's ancestor 'Queen' was one of James Jackson's slaves.
The 'Forks' as it is locally known and its adjacent 'Ghost Bridge' are famous locally for many ghost sitings.
