Fatal school shooting 11/7/2007:
Confirmed the dead numbered two girls, five boys, 61-year-old school headmistress and the 42-year-old school nurse at Jokela High in Tuusula. Ten other people were wounded in the attack. The shooter (18-year-old), whom police identified as Pekka Eric Auvinen, died at Toolo Hospital, authorities said. Police said he took his own life. The shooting appeared to have been planned out in graphic videos posted on Internet file-sharing site YouTube.
Students said that, as word spread that a gunman was moving through the school, they were told to barricade themselves in classrooms, lie on the floor down and wait for help. For 40 minutes, many lay in fear as the gunman moved through all three floors of the school.
