Varna's main transport hub with trains to the rest of Bulgaria and beyond, Varna station is a major destination and starting point for many sleeper services to eastern Europe and Russia.
The building of Varna railway station is one of the first stations built in Bulgaria. Varna was main station of the first railway line in Bulgaria: Varna, Ruse, opened on October 26, 1866.
Architect of the building is Nikola Kostov. The same project is used for the railway station in Burgas. Construction begins on July 11, 1907, but stops because of wars and the building is opened on 03 March 1925. The clock on the station is placed there in 1929.
In 2005, the building and square are fully reconstructed.
Between 1883 and 1885 the famous "Orient Express" passes through railway station Varna.
