Manganese was a small mining town on the in sections 23 and 28 of Wolford Township, Crow Wing County, Minnesota. It was incorporated in 1913, but later unincorporated. It had a post office from 1912-24, and a station of the Soo Line. It first appeared as "Manganese Village" in the 1920 Census with a population of 183. By 1960, the town no longer existed.

It is located between Coles Lake and Flynn Lake. When the town was in its peak it took up a few city blocks in size, some of the blocks can still be seen on old maps and on aerial photos. Visiting the site, several old building foundations and basements remain buried in the brush. The entire townsite is now privately owned and has a "no trespassing" sign posted on a gate on the main road.
