Maupihaa Atoll

Maupihaa (Mopelia) is an atoll in the Leeward group of the Society Islands.

Though there are archaeological remains showing previous polynesian settlement, Maupihaa is listed as permanently uninhabited. The island was planted with coconut palms in the early 20th century for a copra harvesting operation.
