Temple Emanu El, located at 4100 Sherbrooke Street, at Elm avenue, in Westmount, replaced an earlier building at Stanley and Cyprus streets.

On August 23, 1882, a founding meeting was convened to establish a new Reform congregation, later known as Temple Emanuel. It is the first “Reform” synagogue in Canada.
