Located within five miles of Stanley and forming a formidable geograpic barrier to those approaching from the North, Wireless Ridge became a prized strategic target during the 1982 Falklands War.
Site of the Battle of Wireless Ridge on the night of June 13th-14th between British and Argentine forces, the ridge was captured by the British in the morning of the 14th and preciptated the Argentine surrender at Stanley later that day.
