  • Doc, it is very strange that Kannauj was capital of North India for a thousand year but nothing has survived, one can easily find a peer dargah and a mosque around the old settlements but no palaces etc.
  • all ancient temples were destroyed by invaders.....no hindu rulers remained to rebuild or protect them
  • even I have read that there existed the Rajput imperial city of Kannauj before coming of sher shah suri. he actually used all the bricks and stones of the city to build his own fort nearby. he is famous for replacing cities with his own cities, which he did in Delhi too. but the kannaujjya Brahmins survived , remained there and also spread all over india. can anyone add to this ?
