North Island, became an island in 1876 after the Kongingshaven (Kingsharbour) was dug to the southwest. On the Northwestern side you have a nice view on the rebuilt citycentre and the river Nieuwe Maas (New Meuse), the Rotterdam part of the river Rhine.
