A suburb of Brisbane. Postcode - 4121. Named and bounded by Minister for Survey and Valuation, Urban and Regional Affairs 11 August 1975. Boundaries adjusted by the Minister for Natural Resources and Water and Minister Assisting the Premier in North Queensland on 8 December 2006. Originally known as Sandy Creek, reportedly derived from Tarragindi Hill, which was supposed to have been named by Samuel Grimes, whose house was called 'Tarragindi' after a Loyalty Islander Tarragindi Tassaroni (1850-1913) who helped Grimes clear timber from the property. Mr Grimes reportedly asked Tarragindi what they should call the property and he replied 'Call it Tarragindi, it means "Camp on the Hill".
