The old building sits innocently at the bottom of the hill on Riverside Drive. It's hard to tell at first glance that the old Anclote Manor mental hospital has such a troubled past, but as you get closer, you begin to get the akward feeling that terrible things have happened there.

The main build of The Manor was constructed as a country club for the rich and famous in 1928. Well known people such as Al Capone came from all over to stay at the 22 acre property which fronts the anclote river. It was one of the most beautiful and attracting parts of Tarpon Springs until it closed down in the lats 40's/early 50's.

In 1953, the mental hospital, Anclote Manor was founded and many renevations and additions took place. It was renamed The Manors in 1991 and changed again to the Northpointe Behavioral Health System in 1996 and was shut down a year later.

The buidling has been for sale for years now and has had many prospective buyers, none of them which have come through. A juvenile drug treatment center, celeberty spa and retirement home are a few of the ideas people have had for the building, but it still sits empty today.

NOTE: As of 2001 this place has been demolished and homes built on the land.
