I-5 tunnel disaster, October 12, 2007
3 deaths, 10 injured, reportedly 30 vehicles.
Initial crash was at the southern end of tunnel. All vehicles in tunnel engulfed in large fire, flames emerging from northern end of tunnel. Intensity of fire destroyed some concrete in roof of tunnel, part of the support for the car-only section of I-5 above.
