Westgate is a shopping mall located at Westlands in Nairobi, Kenya. It is located on Mwanzi road, off Ring Road in Westlands. Opened in 2007, the mall included 350,000 square feet of retail space, designed to the latest international retail standards. The mall was the scene of a shooting and mass murder on 21 September 2013 by Somalia's al-Shabaab group. The subsequent raids eventually caused three floors to collapse. The government intends for the mall to reopen.
