A locality in Redland City. Named and bounded by Minister for Survey and Valuation 1 September 1980. Sheldon - Old English for "steep sided hill and wooded valley" from "Scylf" meaning "hill, plateau or shelf" and "denu or dene" meaning "valley" - a Devonshire place name. Boundaries amended by the Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, 11 March 2005.
