On October 8, 1934, in the cabinet of the mayor of the city, according to the idea of Karel Shkorpil, director of the Varna Archaeological Museum, a decision was made to make the desert area of Asparuh's shaft a park and a monument to the Asparuhi warrior and on the shaft Khan Asparuh bust.
