Approximately 750 years back when a farmer was ploughing the field he felt as if the plough is going over a piece of rock or stone. He did not bother and continued ploughing the field. By the time he finished ploughing to his horror he found the colour of the water in the field had totally turned into red. He got scared and reported the matter to the land lord. He narrated the happenings to land lord who then decided to do a DEIVAPRASNAM next day, he had a dream the same night Lord Bhoosastha appeared along with HIS two consorts Poorna devi and Pushkala devi and informed the land lord that He had appeared as Swayambu in that paddy field and asked him to construct a small temple there .The Lord also informed the farmer that one of his devotees, a Brahmin living in Kerala would come over to do Puja for him in the temple.
Meanwhile, the Lord appeared in the dream of the brahmin and directed him to proceed to the village for carrying out Puja. The blessed Brahmin moved lock stock and barrel in search of the village and the Lord of his dream. He met up with the farmer and settled down to offer daily Puja to lord Bhoosastha. Then onwards generations of the 'Bhoosastha Kovil' family continues to carry out Puja in the temple. Today the fourteenth generation is carrying on with the Divine Duty. Every devotee visiting the temple and offering prayers to HIM with utmost sincerety and devotion is blessed and the Lord definitely answers his prayers. The Lord has devotees from every strata of the society - irrespective of their cast creed or community.May HE continue to shower them with HIS BLESSINGS. OM SHANTI. BHOOTHATHIPAYA WITHMAHE, BHAVA PUTHRAYA DHEEMAHI. DHANNO BHOOSASTHA PRAJOTHAYATH.
For the information of Devotees: The temple opens twice a day - from around 0600h to 0800h in the morning and 1630 to 1800h (4.30 to 6.00PM)in the evening. Abhishekam is performed in the morning only. The two major festivals in the temple are the Mandala Puja(on the 11th day of Tamil month 'MAARGHAZHI'which generally falls on the 26/27 Dec every year) and the 'Panguni Uttaram' (the Lord's Janma Nakshatram is Uttaram and he is deemed to have taken Avatharam in the Tamil month of Panguni)which comes in March/April. Panguni Uttaram festival is preceded by Laksharchana conducted over a period of 4 days.It is of interst to note that the only occasion that Abhishekam is performed for Sri Bhoosastha during the evening puja is on the day of Panguni Uttaram, when a 'Kumba Abhishekam' is performed in the evening followed by 'Pushpa Abhishekam'. This year, the Laksha Archana and Panguni Uttaram festival will be held from 17 to 21 March 2008. Devotees may avail this oppertunity to visit Sri Bhoosastha temple during the occasion and be blessed with his Darshan. (Added by: Subbarama H Subramanian)

Dear devotees, yet another Laksha Archana and Panguni uttaram festival was conducted so wonderfully well that one needs to have been there at HIS temple to feel the Devine Presence in all its spleandour. Our dear God unfailingly arrived everyday during the Deepa Aaradhana through His 'Kondadi' and blessed all his devotees. For those who had problems and approached Him for solace and Devine intervention, the Lord showed them the way ahead. I would like to bring out one instance to highlight the miraculous ways in which HE makes His devotees feel being close to their "Kula Deivam". Traditionally, on the midnight of the Panguni Uttaram, Sri Bhoosastha, Sri Bhoothanathan and Sri Karuppaswamy incarnate themselves onto their respective 'Kondadis' and after the Deepa Aradhana at the Vishnupuram Gramam temple proceed on 'Bhawani'(Devine Procession) to every residence in the Gramam. During the occasion not only the people from Vishnupuram, but also their kith and kin, friends and other beleivers of our dear Bhoosastha turn up to seek His Blessings. The Almighty is welcomed traditionally and offered Panakam, Milk or Fruit in each house with utmost devotion and love, which the Lord accepts with total happiness and blesses the occupants. This year when Bhoosastha arrived at our (the Blessed Pujaris) residence which He fondly calls as " Enda Graham" (My House), after completing the initial duties of 'padha abishekam' and applying Chandanam and Kumkumam on His forehead, my eldest brother was about to offer 'Panakam'. Our dear God declined and quickly asked,"Punuku Undo?"(Is Punuku available?)(Punuku is a fragrant paste applied on the Lord's 'Bimbam' immediately after Kumba Abishekam). While we were lost for a suitable response, my second brother(the Colonel sahib, who is the present resident Pujari)quickly answered, " Swami, Raavile Nadaiyile Chaataam" (Swami, we will apply (punuku) at the sanctum sanctorum in the morning).Instant response from our dear God was a Devine Smile with the words," Athu Madhi"(that's enough).Sri Bhoosastha gave us 'Prsada Basmam', specially and fondly remembered our eldest sister who is at Delhi and could not make it due to poor health and moved on to our neighbour's house. Only after that the four of us brothers remebered that on the Uttaram day we forgot to apply Punuku on the God's Bimbam during both the Kumbabishekams-in the morning as well as at night. None of us remembered individually nor any of us discussed the issue with each other (obviously). And this was His way of reminding us - like a loving father reminding His children - of our responsibility to ensure we do our 'Karma' without missing out on anything!(In fact we had a Kumbabishekam on 09 Apr and all of us individually and collectively remembered to apply Punuku)The unforgettable incident continues to remain in my thoughts to this day. May HE bless us all to continue to pray to Him. (uploaded by: Subbarama H Subramanian)

Dear devotees, this year's Mandala Puja celibrations is scheduled at the Lord's abode on 27 Dec 2009. On the 25 Dec 09, Lord Subramanya of Marungoor Temple, while proceeding to Suchindrum to partake in the 'Maargazhi Festival' of His parents Sri Sthanu Mal Ayan and Parvathy Devi, pays a visit to His brother Sree Bhoosastha. It is the rare occasion where-in devotees can have darshan of simultaneous Deepa Aaradhana of Sri Subramanyar and Sree Bhoosastha inside Bhoosastha temple premises. Please plan your visit accordingly and seek the Lord's Blessings. Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa.

Dear devotees, may Lord Bhoosastha bless you all with a Very Happy and Prosperous 2010.Because of the Lunar Eclipse on 30 Dec, the Margazhi Festival was preponed by a day and so Subramaniar visited His brother Bhoosastha on 24 Dec instead of 25 Dec. A number of devotees witnessed the wonderful Darshan of simultaneous Deepa Aradhana for Subramania and Bhoosastha.
Mandala Puja was celebrated in a grand manner on 27 Dec with the usual fervour. Kumbabishekam and Deepa Aradhana were witnessed by hundreds of devotees. Bhoosastha incarnated himself in his 'Kondadi' and gave prasadam to those present there. In the evening Bhajan and Deepa aradhana were held at the Krishnan temple at Vishnupuram. Once again the Lord arrived and blessed his children. All in all, an wonderful experience. Swamiye , Saranam Ayyappa.

Dear devotees, Laksha Archana and Panguni Uttaram festival of Sri Bhoosastha is being celebrated from 24 March 2010 to 29 Mar 10. Uttaram is on 29 Mar. Function will go on from early morning till the wee hours of 30 Mar. Devotees may visit HIS Abode during the festival and seek His blessings. Swamiye, Saranam Ayyappa.

Dear Devotees, this year also Panguni Uttaram festival and Laksha Archana was conducted with devotion and religious fervor. Departing from the usual practice, ladies were also permitted to partake in the Laksha Archana. While the Vaadyar read out the Archana, other devotees repeated the mantraas. Bhoosastha Kovilahathu brothers did the puja from within the sanctum sanctorum. Panguni Uttaram was wonderful. Kumba Abhishekam in the forenoon as well as in the evening was delightful bliss for the devout.Lord Bhoosastha and his Parivarams - Sri Bhoothanathan and Karuppa Swamy - incarnated themselves in their respective 'Kondadis' and mesmerised Their devotees. In fact Sri Bhoosastha made us all dance with him to the tune of melodious bhajans. Every one of his Devotees present there witnessed His Gracious presence close to them and felt themselves to be a part of the Lord. It was awesome. The celebrations ended at 2 AM on 30th March.

Next morning three of us brothers went for the regular puja at the temple at 6 AM. Despite having had only a little wink in the wee hours, there was spring in our walk as we headed to the temple. As usual Nana's (Bhhothapandi Narayanan whose Ayyappa Bhajans are a treat for any devotee to listen to) offering of 'Payasam' was readied and I had the fortune of performing the Ashta Abishekam. After the Maha Neiveidyam offering, I requested Nana to sing one song on the Lord. As he melodiously sang the 'Darisanamum Tharuveer, Then Kulathur Ayyane'..... Sri Bhoothanathan could not resist incarnating himself on his 'Kondadi' 'Sahasranama Mama's son Mani' (Venkita Subramanian, who was present there for Darshan. The Lord once again expressed his profound happiness on listening to the beautiful song and blessed us all. With the yet another heart rendering devotional song "Mannikka Vendume, Veera Manikandane" (Please pardon our sins oh Lord Veera Manikanta) Sri Bhoothanathan asked me to perform the Deepa Aaradhana and thereafter blessed the handful of devotees present there. oh God! what a wonderful way to end the Panguni Uttaram festival at His temple! Swaamiyae! Saranam Ayyappa.
