  • GPI Jalan Suci Serui is run by a plurality of leadeship, among other Oktaf Mambrasar, who was on the leadership at the Lawang Bible Training Center, Lawang East Java 1980-1984. He is a good leader, makes cautious weighted decisions. One of the comments he made to me that sticks till today. At Lawang, on a small budget of less than $1000 per month to feed 30 people and meet transportation as well as building expenses, food becomes scarce. Octaf said about soup broth, to eat with rice: "This is where all the nutrients are." Always one to find a silver lining, the positive to something.
  • GPI Jalan Suci, is by far one of the most indeginous works in modern day Papua of Indonesia. The leaders are selected locally. Requirement like in the writings of St Paul, are that they are a husband of one wife, with good reputation, run their families well. Another requirement is that they be filled with the Holy Spirit. Like Mother Mary and 120 others, when Jesus left for heaven he said: "Stay in Jerusalem and the Holy Ghost will come upon you." The Holy Ghost, third person of the Trinity is still empowering common folks today to be a witness. Like the Apostle Peter, a reqular fisherman who became a gifted orator, it was the Holy Spirit who let him. GPI has grown into being in almost every Kecamatan in Papua. The organization needs to add schools for the children and also colleges to advance the islands human resource. Papua is very pretty, close to Australia. It has great potentials for tourism, with the raja empat in Sorong, sunset in Kaimana, eternal snow above a mountain. Logging should be coordinated to clear road stretch areas connecting towns. Bridges and roads can be added using 5% sales tax or 3% income tax for the state of Papua. Schools should be private, by churches or mosques at the choice of parents, using a voucher system to reward the best run institutions. College scholarships set up by Freeport and other mining sectors as well as fishing concerns should finance at least 60 Papuans to go to school in the Philipines, Mindano, to study, Nursing, Engineering, Teaching, English, Computer to bring this area forward. Sorong needs it's own University. Since missionaries of the past have been successful and Indonesia, Papua have adopted well, a Christian college like Satya Watjana in Salatiga or Pelita Harapan setting up a satelite campus would be a good thing. Or better still GPI Jalan Suci starting one college of it's own in Sorong
