Palispis Highway is the major highway used to connect Baguio City to the lowlands. Kennon Road, another major highway, is not as safe as this highway due to numerous landslides in the past.
The view is best, in my opinion, at the vicinity of the tunnel viaduct, where you can also see Baguio City and the wide expanse of mountains in the distance.
However, just very recently, a portion of the highway at Barangay Taloy Sur, Tuba, Benguet has eroded due to the frequent rains and typhoons, so it is still under repair. Kennon Road was also temporarily opened to motorists travelling from Baguio to the lowlands.
Quirino Highway (or Naguilian Road) is still considered to be the most stable of the three main highways linking Baguio City to the south.
As for the road surface, Palispis Highway has been prioritized by the Government to be the best highway (as compared to Kennon Road), so the cemented road surface is of course of high quality.
Though there are numerous 180 degree turns here, and it is a main highway, so you will use caution as always. |
