Ryugyong Jong Ju Yong Indoor Stadium (Pyongyang(P'yŏngyang))


Accommodates 12,000 spectators, this indoor sports stadium's main use is for basketball, boxing, taekwando exhibitions and cultural events (in 2005 it hosted the closing ceremonies of a Reunification event, seen in the second photo). It was opened in October 2003, named after the late, great Jong Ju Yong(third picture: second from left with General Kim Jong il), an ROK national who was founder and long-time chairman of the Hyundai-Kia Group and who worked on Reunification issues, and located Hyundai manufacturing plants to the DPRK.
